What should I wear to dance class?

We don't believe kids should judge themselves or others based on appearance, and we want all our students (and parents!) to be comfortable in class, so please keep all attire tasteful, i.e. not too revealing!

Check out Tights 'n Things (1924 E Sunshine Ave, Springfield) or www.discountdancesupply.com for all your dance attire needs!

Creative Dance

Clothes: Comfortable clothing. A fitted t-shirt and cotton shorts or skirt is perfect. If they want to wear a leotard they can, but we don't require you to buy specific dance attire at this point.

Shoes: Bare feet or ballet shoes. There are advantages to both. Dancing barefoot can help young dancers develop the arches and muscles in their feet and can also connect them to the floor to feel grounded. Ballet shoes give them the experience of taking a dance class and having something special to put on before class. The shoes help with balance. At this age, either option would be good!

Hair: Pulled back out of their face and eyes.

Jazz & Hip Hop

Clothes: A fitted shirt and cotton shorts or leggings is perfect. If they would like to put on something more comfortable and baggy for the hip hop portion of the class that will be acceptable!

Shoes: Jazz shoes are required for this class. Dance paws, 'foot thongs' and 'foot undeez' are also acceptable. If they would like to put on different shoes for hip hop they can wear either hip hop sneakers or tennis shoes (preferably white soles and not their everyday tennis shoes). However, only one pair of shoes is necessary.

Hair: Pulled back out of their face and eyes.

Hip Hop

Clothes: Comfortable clothes (no jeans). A t-shirt and shorts, leggings, or pants is good. Whatever helps them get into the "groove" of hip hop!
